Altitude sickness occurs when you cannot get enough oxygen from the air at high altitudes. This causes symptoms such as a headache, loss of appetite, and trouble sleeping. It happens most often when people who are not used to high altitudes go quickly from lower altitudes to 2500 m (8200 ft) or higher. Check out the survival tools i brought with me to handle the high altitude:
1. Wide Mouth Thermal Bottle (for my coca leaf tea)
2) Change Purse
It requires 1 Sol for using public washroom, making this change purse an essential.
3) Scarf and beanie
Majority of the attractions are outdoors, like watching the Andean condor at Colca Canyon or hiking up to Machu Picchu. I highly recommend bringing a scarf and beanie.
